Masherbrum (7,821m) Expedition
Masherbrum is the 22nd tallest mountain on the planet and the 11th tallest in our country, with an elevation of around 2,450 metres. It is located in the Hushe district of Ganche Baltistan, which is home to the majority of the highest peaks in Pakistan’s Karakorum mountain range. Masherbrum, at 7,821m, is the tallest of the Masherbrum range Mountains, a sub-range of Karakorum that includes Chogolisa, which is 7,665m, and K6, which sits at 7,281m and is located on the southern ridge of the region.
Masherbrum was first observed by the subcontinent’s military in 1856 by Thomas Montgomerie, who identified it as K1 despite the fact that it is rarely referred to as K1 today. The peak’s massif consists of two principal peaks. The North top or principal summit sits at 7,821 metres, while the South West peak is 7,806 metres. In 1960, Willi Unsoeld and George Bell, members of an American expedition, became the first to reach the principal peak. These two peaks have also been ascended. At that time, the expedition picked the south-west route.
