Nanga Parbat (8126 m) Expedition
Nanga Parbat (main peak) is 8126 meters/26,660 feet tall. It has three tremendous faces. The Rakhiot face is dominated by the silver crags and plateau to the north and south. The Diamir face is initially composed of rocks. It transforms into ice fields around the summit of the peak.
The Rupal face is the world’s highest cliff face. Reinhold Messner, an Italian mountaineering legend, remarked, “Everyone who has ever stood at the base of this face (4,500 meters) above the ‘Tap Alpe’; studied it or flown over it, has been awestruck by its sheer size. Nanga Parbat is unquestionably the world’s tallest rock and ice cliff.
