Rakaposhi 7788m Expedition

Rakaposhi 7788m Expedition is a mountaineering journey to climb Rakaposhi peak. Rakaposhi is a mountain in the Karakoram mountain range in Pakistan. It is situated in the midst of Nagar Valley, Nagar District, and Danyore and Bagrote valleys, some 100 kilometres north of Gilgit, the provincial capital of Pakistan’s Gilgit–Baltistan region.

Rakaposhi means “Snow Covered” in the native tongue. Rakaposhi is also known as Dumani (“Mother of Mist”) (“Mother of Mist”). It is ranked 27th highest in the world and 12th highest in Pakistan, yet it is more popular for its beauty than its rating may suggest. Rakaposhi has an uninterrupted vertical climb of roughly 6000 m (19,688 feet) from base to summit, making it the tallest mountain on land.

Mike Banks and Tom Patey of a British-Pakistani expedition first scaled Rakaposhi via the Southwest Spur/Ridge route in 1958. On June 25, both of them suffered minor frostbite while climbing to the summit. Another climber died during the night after slipping and falling during the descent. Rakaposhi 7,788m Expedition start and finish in Islamabad.
